The FADU led International Experience in Colombia

Within the framework of the internationalization and external relations processes of the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Urbanism - FADU, it took place the International Academic Experience - Colombia 2023 from September 25 to October 1, 2023.

This experience was developed in two stages, the first was the International Workshop - Informal Urbanism and Climate Change (between September 18 and 22) whose objective was to learn about and experiment with methodologies for territory recognition and local communities support, based on industrial, visual, architectural design and territorial planning initiatives, oriented towards adaptation to climate change and the strengthening of community processes in an of informal origin urban sector in Ciudad Bolívar, Bogotá.

The second stage was the Academic Outing - Rediscovering urban processes in Colombia (between September 24 and October 1), which had the purpose of recognize the urban and architectural projects in two of the most important cities in Colombia (Bogotá and Medellín), through guided visits to museums, urban tours and academic lectures.

This experience included the participation of 17 international visitors (3 professors and 14 undergraduate, master's and doctoral students) from the Universities of Camerino (Italy), Degli Studi “G. d'Annunzio” Chieti-Pescara (Italy) and Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil), as well as 23 members of the FADU academic community (2 directors, 1 administrative, 4 professors and 16 undergraduate and master's students). As a result of this exercise, the FADU is planning to create, a study and research group with the participation of all universities that joind the workshop.

This event was organized by the master’s degree in Planning and Territory Management and the Territory and Landscape Laboratory, with the support of Undergraduate Programs in Industrial Design, Visual Design and Architecture.
