Jennifer Larrarte, Yaritza Quevedo, Tatiana Montenegro y Ana Sofía Castillo, students of the Environmental and Sanitary Engineering Program who engaged in the project “Soil, People, the Environment, and Food for Life (SoPEF 4 Life)” funded by “100k Strong in the Americas” Innovation Fund, carry out their research internship in United States between May 26th and August 19th.

This project develops solutions for addressing climate change and soil degradation in rural areas of Colombia through a partnership between Lewis University (LU), University of Delaware (UD) and Universidad de La Salle in Colombia.

This research experience is developed by an interdisciplinary group formed by students and professors from these universities, for Tatiana Montenegro “The Exchange of knowledge and experiences are part of the academic and cultural process, necessary to understand the upcoming challenges and their possible solutions”.

Also, Yaritza Quevedo says that “It is quite moving to know that there are many people interested on researching environmental problems, this is vital to promote the human development and the food supply around the word.”
