Women 4 Peace: women leaders for peace building
During August 12 to 15th, students and professors from different national and international universities linked to Women 4 Peace, were sharing their projects for the development of leadership skills and empowerment of women for peacebuilding.
In this second academic visit, the participants had the opportunity to conclude their virtual modules, display their proposed projects and get fed back by teachers. Additionally, they traveled to Ventaquemada, Boyacá, to learn about a productive tuber project. Also received academic training in innovation and women's leadership.
Stacy Connaughton, professor at Purdue University, says that "these projects centralizes the role of women and use local knowledge and customs to build cooperative networks among them to help them grow."
Unisalle with the following institutions also were present: Universidad de los Andes, Universidad Nacional, Corporación Universitaria Minuto de Dios, Fundación Universitaria del Área Andina, Universidad del Tolima, North Carolina State University, CESA Business School, Texas State University and Purdue University. This allowed the creation of an intercultural environment and integral knowledge, in order to consolidate more dynamic projects.
The closing remarks of the program took place at the facilities of our university. This was the ideal time to show the results of the program to donors; Icetex and the United States Embassy in Colombia.
