Webinar on Lasallian Good Practices in Collaborative Online International Learning
Because of the new virtual learning scenarios that have been generated by the COVID-19 contingency, the International and Inter-institutional Relations Department of La Salle University – DRII, has been developing a series of initiatives aimed at strengthening the processes of internationalization at home.
First, through collaborative work with other University faculties during the last two weeks, three academic webinars were held, in which two international professors shared their knowledge on Artificial Intelligence and Revolution 4.0 with students from the Automation Engineering and Business and International Relations respectively.
Second, the Internationalization Department – DRII is working on a webinar to further develop the academic knowledge on the advantages and challenges of Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) to promote internationalization at home and internationalization of the curriculum. The COIL learning methodology has become more relevant in the current scenario where academic mobility has been affected by the restriction of international travel and a large majority of students are taking online classes. This methodology consists of an innovative form of international and intercultural learning where students have the opportunity to exchange experiences and opinions with students from other countries directly from the classroom. Two professors from two different universities participate in a process of co-creation of a collaborative course on specific topics and in a period of 4 to 5 weeks academic activities are to be formulated so that students share the contents their class, interact with each other and develop collaborative projects.
The webinar will take place on June 12th at 9:00 am and will present some successful cases of learning developed by the Universidad de la Salle in Mexico (Mexico City and Sonora) and Brazil. We hope that from this first initiative future alliances and collaboration for work in the IALU network may emerge.
