La Universidad es una institución católica y lasallista, fundada, orientada y dirigida por los Hermanos de las Escuelas Cristianas; a partir de un proyecto formativo ofrece programas académicos de educación superior, realiza investigación con pertinencia e impacto social, y se proyecta socialmente con el objetivo de promover la dignidad y el desarrollo integral de la persona, la transformación de la sociedad, el fomento de la cultura y la búsqueda del sentido de la verdad.

La misión de la Universidad de La Salle es educar de manera integral y  generar conocimiento que aporte a la transformación social y productiva del país. Por esta razón participa activamente en la construcción de una sociedad justa y en paz mediante la formación de profesionales que por su conocimiento, sus valores, su capacidad de trabajo colegiado, su sensibilidad social y su sentido de pertenencia contribuyen a la búsqueda de la equidad, de la defensa de la vida y del desarrollo humano integral y sustentable.

The Brothers of The Christian Schools’ Institute funded La Salle University in November 15 of 1964. It is a higher education institute, private, of common usage, and non-profitable. It is based in a Christian vision of men, world, history and knowledge. However, it was until 1965 when the University started it function offering eight programs: Economics, Philosophy and literature, Civil Engineering, Chemistry and Biology, and Mathematics and Physics. Forty-two years ago, the University was only counting with 20 professors and 98 students.

The University has an Institutional Project, which is inspired in the catholic educative model and the lasallian educative profile. This mindset has been consolidated for more than 320 years in over 80 countries worldwide. Nowadays, La Salle University has three different branches around Bogotá and one in Yopal, in these groups of headquarters the University has more than 286 classrooms, 84 laboratories, a Natural Sciences Museum, a Vet Clinic, an Optometry Research Institute, 3 theaters, 15 auditoriums, 3 churches and other spaces to offer comfort to its students.

La Salle is actively involved in building a just and peaceful society by training professionals and helping them shape their knowledge, values and sense of belonging to the country, while being immersed in a globalize world where they contribute on the search of equity, he building of citizenship and the commitment towards a more comprehensive and sustainable human development.
